How can i restore my laptop back to factory settings after installing a new operating system?

i had windows vista on my advent 5301 laptop. i could have created a recovery disk but i didnt. i installed windows 7. i want to restore my laptop back to factory settings. i know were i can get the recovery disk from. but it costs �25. can i do it for free somehow? i could find a way to restore it ack to normal?
