Question about jail inmates.?

So the other day I was watching a doentary National Geographic Channel about jails. Its called "Locked Up" if i mah not wrong. It seems that according to the doentary offenders especially those who ually abuse children are treated worse and are discriminated and bullied by other inmates. I felt appalled. I mean what makes other inmates think they are better than the ual offenders. They robbed and murder people. Hows that any better than the ual offender. At least in raping you still have your loved ones and you can counsel them. But your loved one dies in a murder incident. I think it is the murderers that should be beaten up and discriminated in the jail. So my question is what makes other inmates better than ual offender?
