Serious question about Apophis and potential worldwide destruction.?
In 2004, NASA scientists discovered an asteroid they labeled 2004 MN4. It was later renamed "Apophis". It's trajectory was calculated, and was determined that the rock will make a near earth p on April 13, 2029 (oddly that's a Friday the 13th). It was said that if it pes close enough, that the Earth's gravity would alter its trajectory enough to cause a collision with the earth 7 years later. While it was determined to be not as big as the dinosaur killer, it would still cause significant damage to the earth and potentially wipe out millions of people in the process. (you can check for yourself on Space.com, or the History channel, or Astronomy.com, or Wikipedia) Even though the probablility is low that an impact will take place, how would it affect your faith if you were told that an asteroid such as this was on course to hit the earth? For believers and atheists alike, what kind of things would you do before the event took place, if you knew it was going to happen?
