Pound cake: safe to eat or toss?

I bought Sara Lee's Frozen pound cake and let it sit out to thaw. I was supposed to put the rest back in the fridge, but it was left out over night (16 hours). Is it safe to eat or do I have to throw it away? They say because it contains eggs, it may have to be tossed.
